To learn more about Charlie:

Charles Manson founded the word ATWA.  Although he is held as a political prisoner in one of the most polluted areas in the United States, his vision of life on Earth has inspired many people worldwide to learn about living in balance with the planet.  For over 43 years, Manson has tirelessly spoken out against the destructive actions of industrial society.

"You can't stop war, but you can redirect it.  You can redirect it to the problem.  The problem is pollution."

When Charlie was a child in the 1930's and '40s, his uncle Jess and other men set an early example by resisting the Tennesse Valley Authority (TVA), which aimed to force the use of electricity on people and to build dams on the rivers.  Uncle Jess prophetically referred to automobiles as "doomsday machines".

As a young man in reform schools, jails, and prisons, Manson learned much about life and living within the code of the old-time outlaws.  He was raised by Catholic monks, ex-military men, and older convicts.  Charlie noticed that each time he got out of jail, the natural part of the world would be more and more degraded to make room for so-called human progress - homes, buildings, factories, dams, logging...
